A individual charged with harassing Kate McCann reportedly left her a recorded message which questioned: "suppose I am Madeleine?"

Julia Wandelt, 24, who court testimony revealed has consistently claimed she was the vanished Madeleine McCann, and Karen Spragg are on trial indicted with stalking Kate and Gerry McCann from June 2022 and February this year.

On Monday, Leicester Crown Court was told call records and evidence retrieved from phones documented Ms Wandelt repeatedly demanding Madeleine's mother for a DNA test throughout 2023 and 2024.

Madeleine's case in 2007 - as a three-year-old during a vacation in Portugal - is considered the most widely reported missing child cases and remains unresolved.

'I Don't Want Money'

One recorded message, presented in court, captured Ms Wandelt saying: "I know I'm fat and plain like Madeleine had been, but I feel what I feel."

While another instance of Ms Wandelt's recordings with Mrs McCann's recording expressed: "Imagine there is a slight possibility that I am she? Then what? Wouldn't that be significant for you?"

"I do not need money, I possess a living here in Poland, I just want to know," the recording stated.

The tribunal was advised that by means of emails, SMS messages and phone calls, Ms Wandelt asked for a biological test, transmitted youth pictures to her phone in a bid to display a resemblance to Mrs McCann's disappeared daughter, and stated to have "memories" from a early life with the McCanns.

Robert Jones, an investigator with Leicestershire Police who collated the information, advised the court there "didn't appear to be any replies" from Mrs McCann.

Ms Wandelt furthermore reached out to close associates of the McCanns, based on the call data.

On 9 October 2024, Gerry McCann picked up a call from Ms Wandelt to his wife's phone, declaring she had "the wrong phone."

During that incident Ms Wandelt recorded a voicemail on Mrs McCann's voicemail saying "I will continue and I plan to establish my point."

The court learned Mrs Spragg established a association online with Ms Wandelt preceding accompanying her on a visit to the McCanns' home in the county in last December.

Call logs demonstrated Mrs Spragg had contacted through messaging service to Mrs McCann to say the news outlets had portrayed Ms Wandelt as "mentally unstable" but that she should be treated respectfully in the months leading up to the appearance to the village, the county, in December 2024.

The court learned communications between the two defendants, in that autumn, planning trying to acquire Mrs McCann's genetic material from her garbage or from silverware at a eating establishment.

"We have to make a stand," the co-defendant informed Ms Wandelt.

On the night of the trip to their house, the defendant sent a text which expressed: "We are sitting adjacent to the McCanns' home with our lights out resembling detectives. I had hoped to accomplish this with another person I didn't imagine I would be involved in this with the McCanns."

The case continues.
