Attack Site Details

The knife attack occurred near Bullring retail complex, across from the main entrance to Birmingham New Street station.

Police said they were treating it as "unprovoked attack" with investigators stating they were working to understand the motive behind.

Eyewitness Reports

An area worker, employed in the vicinity, described paramedic and police activity when she finished her work period at about 22:00 on Friday.

She described the scene as extremely disorderly, adding that co-workers reported hearing a commotion around 9 PM.

"Many co-workers use transit services, take the tram... our security is compromised essentially, here in the city centre."

Another individual, 25, from Stoke-on-Trent, mentioned visiting the city fairly regularly to see his girlfriend resident there, and was concerned about what had happened.

"It causes concern about my partner," he said.

"She doesn't drive employed at major concert locations... and to think something completely unprovoked [happened], you know, it's terrible."
