Flight operations have restarted at Scotland's primary international airport following a significant ATC system failure halted all operations.

Every arrival and departure were halted because of an IT issue that was reported at approximately 08:30.

Several flyers reported being stuck in aircraft on the tarmac as the outage continued.

Services Recommence with Continued Disruption

The airport confirmed at 10:40 that operations had restarted, and thanked passengers for their "patience and understanding".

However, considerable delays are expected to affect schedules. Services bound for key destinations like Amsterdam, Frankfurt, London, and Bristol have been called off, with numerous other services subject to postponements.

An airport representative had previously estimated that 27 departures and 11 arrivals could be disrupted.

"Flyers are asked to check directly with their airline for the most up-to-date details on their specific flights," the statement added.

Root of the Disruption

Officials linked the widespread suspension to an systems failure with its ATC service provider.

Travelers should still plan to confirm the details of their flight before heading to the airport as backlogs are managed.
