New England Equal Longest Victory Run Since Brady Years with Win Against New York Jets
First-year player Henderson has tallied five scores in the present year
The New England Patriots matched their longest winning run from the Brady period as they beat AFC East rivals the Jets 27-14 in the NFL
First-year standout Henderson led the way with three touchdowns as the Patriots notched an eighth straight win for the initial occasion since star signal-caller Brady's closing campaign with the franchise in the 2019 season
QB Maye accumulated 281 yards and a touchdown, connecting on 25 of 34 passes
The win extends the Patriots advantage at the top of the AFC East as they improved to a 9-2 record, with the Jets bottom after falling to two wins and eight losses
The opposing team had taken the lead at their home field with quarterback Justin Fields running in a short rushing score to conclude the New York's initial series
But the home team fought back in the second quarter as the rookie rushed for two short rushing scores before the ball carrier caught a pass from Maye at the back of the end zone halfway into the third quarter to extend the lead to 21 to 7
"It was a big time for him delivering, and it's been excellent for him to keep earning playing time," Maye commented on Henderson. "He aims to be great."
Fields threw to Metchie in the latter part of the third quarter to reduce the lead for the visitors but Borregales converted a pair of field goals in the final period as the Patriots wrapped up the triumph
